love to help you make
your dreams come true.”
Do you have a story in your heart, your head or your computer that you want to share but don’t know where to start?
Share Your Story would love to help you make your dreams come true. We provide aspiring authors and illustrators with the information and strategies they need to publish their work.
Many people have a story they would like to tell but have no idea about how to get published. We educate you through face to face and online workshops, empower you with individual strategy sessions and engage in a community of supportive and like-minded people.
One way we support our community is with an annual story writing competition, where you have the chance to be published in our next anthology.
Our current anthologies for purchase are:
From the authors of Share Your Story, a collection of bedtime ballads and tall tales inspired by the Australian Bush written for the young and the young at heart. The bush ballad, bush song or bush poem is a style of poetry and folk music that depicts the life, character and scenery of the Australian bush. This modern interpretation from contempory authors celebrates what it means to them. All profits from the sale of the anthology are donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service to help protect our bush and support those who risk their lives to save it.
A collection of short stories and poetry with a Halloween theme by the authors and illustrators of Share Your Story. From scary noises in the dark to ghoulish characters causing trouble, this anthology is perfect for young readers aged 8 to 12, as well as grown ups who are just as brave.
Turn the pages to unwrap this grand gift of short stories and poetry celebrating the spirit of Christmas. From Santa in his underwear to Christmas rules, from a missing star to Christmas bellyaches, this anthology is packed with Yuletide happiness that will bring a smile to all faces during the most magical time of the year. From the authors and illustrators of Share Your Story.
Twisted Fairy Tales
Submissions now open for the 2021 Share Your Story Anthology!
We are very proud to launch our fourth annual Share Your Story Writing Competition.
Please submit either a complete short story up to 1500 words (no first chapters or to be continued…) or a poem of no more than 650 words. The theme is ‘twisted Fairy Tales’ and our judges are looking for creative, engaging stories or poems that will appeal to children aged 5 to 10 years old. We would love you to have the chance to be published in our next anthology, which raise funds for Life’s Little Treasures Foundation.
From the Judges
A fairy tale is a fictional story that may feature folkloric characters and enchantments, often involving a far-fetched sequence of events. We are looking for fairy tale and nursery rhyme twists, with very similar plots, characters, and motifs as the original but altered to be funny and quirky. When you are writing, please remember to consider your target audience is children, and specifically older brothers and sisters of premature babies. There can still be a moral lesson, but bonus points for making us laugh.
You can enter as many times as you like however all work must be original.
School students are more than welcome to enter.
The best entries will be included in an anthology entitled “Once Upon a Whoops!: Twisted Fairy Tales and Ridiculous Nursery Rhymes” and will be launched in September to coincide with Life’s Little Treasures Little Readers Readathon and Sibling Storytime.
